Cosmetology Licensure Renewal

Renewals will begin January 9, 2015. You are required to renew your license as an RC, NT, ES, IRC, INT, or IES in South Carolina on or before 11:59 p.m. March 10, 2015, in order to continue providing cosmetology and related services in this state.

Please note the current licensing period began March 11, 2013 and ends March 10, 2015. If this is your first licensing period, you are not required to complete continuing education. If this is not your first licensing period, you must complete 12 hours of approved South Carolina Board of Cosmetology continuing education classes prior to renewing your license. You may check your CEU hours online by selecting “Check Your CEU Hours Online”.

**If you complete continuing education classes after February 20, 2015, you must submit a paper renewal application along with your fee and certificates of completion prior to March 10, 2015.

CE Exemption - To be approved for CE exemption, you must meet the requirements as outlined in the South Carolina Cosmetology law. If you believe you meet the requirements for CE exemption, please remit the CE exemption form and supporting documents to the Board’s office prior to January 2015. The exemption form can be found on the Board’s website under applications and forms. All documents received will be reviewed, and written notification will be given of approval or denial. If you do not meet exemption requirements, you must obtain continuing education to renew your license.
