**The Office of Advice Counsel is responsible for
providing legal advice to all Boards, Commissions
and Panels. These attorneys do not provide legal
advice to parties outside LLR.
WE ARE CURRENTLY EXPERIENCING A HIGH VOLUME OF APPLICATIONS, CALLS AND EMAILS.
Due to licensing law changes which will become effective January 1st, 2017, there are many requests to expedite applications or to locate recently submitted applications to check on status. Effective January 1st, no more "provisional" sales licenses will be issued. Applicants will have to complete the additional 30 hours of "Unit II: Advanced Real Estate Principles" (now known as post-licensing) education prior to being issued a sales license.
Applications are processed in the order received and one must allow normal processing times (7 business days). Criminal and disciplinary history or application deficiencies will require additional time. Please note that we are also in the final days of 2016 reinstatement/renewals, so the more calls and requests we receive, the more time it takes away from staff to complete application processing.
South Carolina State Government offices are closed on December 23rd, 26th, and 27th in observance of Christmas Holidays. If you are submitting an exam application December 19, 2016 or later, it is unlikely that there is enough time to process your application, enroll you with the exam provider, receive your eligibility and schedule the exam, take and pass the exam and apply for a provisional license prior to January 1, 2017. If you are an exam applicant, please anticipate the need to complete the additional 30 hour "Unit II" course prior to licensure.
