Board of Medical Examiners recommends and approves of the prescribing of influenza antiviral prophylaxis in accordance with the latest CDC and DHEC guidelines (as posted on their Web sites), even in the absence of an established physician-patient relationship. Administration of H1N1 Vaccine by Pharmacists
The S.C. Board of Medical Examiners has determined that pharmacists licensed in South Carolina who are vaccination-trained and appropriately certified may administer pandemic H1N1 vaccine without individual physician orders if such vaccinations are in coordination with the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control. However, pharmacists licensed in South Carolina cannot administer, absent an individual physician order, vaccinations other than influenza; for example, childhood immunizations. -
