Continuing Education Requirements
1. Continuing education must have been completed in the current licensure year except in cases when a program has been carried over from the previous licensure period. Continuing education hours for any board-approved program may be carried forward, in their entirety, if they are in excess of that required for any licensure period. Such carryover hours must represent the total earned during the continuing education program and must be used during the following licensure period.
2. The board reviews continuing education courses from sponsors (such as schools, professional associations and independent providers) and individual administrators. Programs approved by the National Continuing Education Review Service (NCERS) of the National Association of Boards of Examiners of Long Term Care Administrators (NAB) are accepted by the South Carolina Board.
3. Licensed Administrators are required to obtain continuing education annually for the renewal of their license. The Board must approve all CE either prior to the program through the Sponsor Continuing Education Application or within thirty days after the program for individual Administrators through the Individual Administrator Continuing Education Application.
Both CE applications and related materials can be downloaded directly from the internet. Forms are in portable document format (PDF) and require Adobe Acrobat Reader to view and print to a laser printer.
