Board News

  • Landscape architects in Emeritus Status must be fully retired from practice and may not provide any landscape architectural services at all in the State of South Carolina.

  • Individuals or businesses practicing in the following areas do not need a license through the Board: Horticulture, Nurserymen, General or Landscape Contractors, Landscape Services, Lawn Services, and Tree Services. If you are practicing in one of these areas, please contact the S.C. Association of Counties at 1-800-922-6081 to determine if you need a business permit through the county where you operate.

  • 2013-2015 license renewals for individual landscape architects and Certificates of Authorization are now closed. Individual licenses may be reinstated for a period of two years after the date the  license lapsed by completing the Reinstatement Application and submitting all requested materials to our office. Individuals that have lapsed for more than two years and firms that failed to renew must reapply for a licensure.

Attention LLR Customers
LLR encourages the use of its online licensing services to issue licenses as quickly as possible to our clients. Starting May 15, 2011, a $25 service fee will be instituted for licensing services done in person rather than online.
