Fact Sheet FEMA Reinterment Assistance

Fact Sheet for FEMA Funeral Assistance

DHEC has received reports that flooding caused by Hurricane Matthew has resulted in some caskets becoming disinterred. DHEC asks that you continue to monitor cemeteries and gravesites for disinterred caskets. If a casket becomes disinterred, please secure the casket and immediately report it to DHEC at 803-898-3692 or ACC-PLANS@dhec.sc.gov

Once the flood waters recede, the caskets should be reinterred. This is the responsibility of the owner of the cemetery.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact DHEC.

  • Online Address Changes
  • It is time to renew South Carolina State Board of Funeral Service licenses for individuals and establishments. Licenses can renewed online at: https://eservice.llr.sc.gov/OnlineRenewals/ All licenses must be renewed no later than July 30, 2016. After July 30, 2016, licenses and permits will be subject to a $120 late fee, and continued practice during the time a license is lapsed may result in a consent agreement and $500 fine.

  • Effective immediately: Individual licensees can make changes to their addresses through the Online Services section of the Boards website, and have it update LLR's database without having staff re-key the information. Prior, licensees would make the request online, staff would receive an email and key in the changes. Now, selected staff will receive an email advising that changes were made to a licensees address.
