The Board was recently asked to consider whether design of control systems should be limited to engineers. Several individuals appeared before the board to discuss the extent and diversity of control systems. After wide-ranging discussion, Board members concluded that designing control systems is considered the practice of engineering, but assembling and/or constructing systems from the engineer's design would not be considered the practice of engineering. While the members declined to create a list of specific tasks that would not be considered engineering, they asked that inquiries be directed to the Board office for guidance from Board members.
