Gas leak Closes LLR Late Thursday Afternoon
The main office of the S.C. Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation in Columbia was closed from about 3:45 p.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday due to a gas leak.
Employees and the public were evacuated safely from the building at 110 Centerview Drive. No medical issues were reported.
After the evacuation, staff assisted visitors to the agency from the parking lot, but office telephone calls could not be answered.
"We regret not being available for all of our customers late Thursday afternoon, but the safety of employees and the public was our primary concern during this time," Agency Director Holly Pisarik said.
The gas leak was repaired by about 4:30 p.m. Thursday. The agency is expected to resume normal operations Friday morning and open at 8:30 a.m.
